Mitre jigs: FAQs

What is the difference between a mitre vice and a tube cutting jig?

A mitre vice holds square or flat stock at a fixed angle (such as 45° or 90°) so you can saw or file a clean mitre. A tube cutting jig holds round tube or wire and has an adjustable stop, so you can cut many pieces to exactly the same length.

2-way or 5-way mitre vice?

A 2-way vice covers 45° and 90°, which is enough for most box joints and frames. A 5-way vice adds 60° angles for hexagons and triangles.

What saw do I use with a mitre jig?

A jeweller's piercing saw frame with fine blades. Our sets include an 80 mm saw frame and 12 blades.
