The NS Crafts® 10 Piece Jewellery Melting Set is made for jewellers, goldsmiths, metalworkers and hobby makers. A tall, high-temperature quartz crucible cup for melting larger amounts of gold, silver and copper with a torch or furnace. The deep cup holds more metal than a shallow dish and pours cleanly.

• 1 x High-temperature quartz crucible cup – approx. outside 7–8 cm, inside 5–5.5 cm, height 11–12 cm; holds approx. 800–1000 g of gold
• 2 x 2" (100 g) ceramic crucible dish – outside 5.2 cm, inside 4.5 cm, height 2.1 cm, with pouring spout
• 2 x 3" (250 g) ceramic crucible dish – outside 7.6 cm, inside 6.8 cm, height 3.7 cm, with pouring spout
• 1 x 4" (550 g) ceramic crucible dish – outside 10.2 cm, inside 9 cm, height 4.2 cm, with pouring spout
• 1 x 12" (300 mm) brass tongs, approx. 200 g – non-sparking and won't contaminate pickle
• 1 x 14" stainless steel crucible tongs with 4" jaws and comfortable grip

Getting the best from your ceramic crucible

Before first use, glaze the inside with borax: warm the dish with your torch, sprinkle in borax and melt it into a thin layer. This seasoning protects the dish and helps the metal pour cleanly. Keep a separate dish for each metal to avoid contamination.

Getting the best from your crucible cup

Heat the cup gradually at first to avoid thermal shock, keep it dry and use a little borax flux to keep the melt clean. Always lift and pour with suitable tongs or a crucible handle.
