For beginners, essential tools include round nose pliers, chain nose pliers, flat nose pliers, wire cutters, a ruler and a bead board. As you progress, you might consider adding more specialised tools to your collection.
How do I maintain and clean my jewellery tools?
Keep your tools dry to prevent rust. After each use, wipe them down with a soft cloth to remove any debris. For rusted tools, a bit of steel wool or sandpaper can be used carefully to remove the rust.

How do I choose the right size of jewellery wire for my project?
Wire gauge determines the thickness of the wire. The higher the gauge number, the thinner the wire. For delicate projects like beading, higher gauges like 20–24 are preferred. For structural pieces, 14–18 gauge might be better.
