The whip tong is made from stainless steel wire with a reverse action: it springs closed to grip the dish securely, and you squeeze to release. This gives you a firm hold and good control as you tip and pour. The round ceramic dish has a pouring spout for a clean, accurate pour into an ingot mould or flask.

Safety and first use

Preheat the crucible gently before melting, and glaze the inside with borax to help the metal flow and extend the life of the dish. Always wear heat-resistant gloves and eye protection, and work on a fireproof surface in a well-ventilated area.
