An emergency ring cutter with a stainless steel body for safely removing a gold, silver or other soft-metal ring that is stuck on a finger. A small 7/8" circular saw blade cuts through the band, while the guard underneath protects the finger.
The thin base slides between the finger and the ring. Turn the side wing handle with gentle pressure and the blade saws through the metal, usually in minutes. It follows the classic French ring cutter design, with a knurled, non-slip, nickel-plated handle for a firm grip. It is also useful for jewellers who need to cut a ring for resizing or repair.
This hand-turned cutter is designed for soft metals such as gold, silver, copper and brass. It is not suitable for stainless steel, titanium or tungsten carbide rings, which need a powered ring cutter. The "stainless steel" in the name refers to the tool itself, not the rings it can cut. If you are not sure what a ring is made of, or it will not cut easily, stop and seek help from A&E or a jeweller.
A drop of lubricant on the blade helps it cut smoothly and last longer. After cutting, gently spread the ring with pliers to slide it off.
